THE PRODUCER

The Producer is the person that the Record Company will hire in order to make sure a particular artist/band makes as good of an album as possible.  “Good” may mean artistically creative, or commercially successful.  Good Producers will help an artist find the right songs, find the right key, find the right arrangements, find the right musicians, find the right performances, and help the artist find the right sound.  A big part of this is finding the right Engineer.  Producers will often work with specific Engineers for specific types of music, or develop tight relationships with a select few.  Producers and Engineers work together to capture, create and refine every sound in a song.  Often Engineers will learn from the different Producers they work with and become Producers themselves.
