MIXING

MIXING CONSIDERATIONS

Although these are just suggestions, taking the following into consideration may help inexperienced mixers.

Is the vocal believable?
Is the overall sound appropriate for the mood you are trying to elicit?
Does the mix have enough very high and very low frequencies?
Are the drums punchy?
Does the bass have enough fullness, bottom and enough edge to hear each note?
Are the instruments playing the chords full, clearly heard and wide enough?
Are harmony vocals properly blended?
When the vocal stops, do you need something else to carry attention?
Do elements “grab your attention” when they are supposed to?
Can any instrument benefit from being automated?
Does the mix sound and feel similar when heard on different speakers?
Is the mix too crowded?
Is your client happy?
Do you like the mix?
